 Letter from the Mayor

Litter.  A dirty word in my book.  It seems that every community has a litter battle on its hand and Crockett is no different.  Litter has become a huge problem in Crockett and I’m asking all of our good citizens to do their part in helping clean up our great city.  Unfortunately not everyone cares about the image we put forth to the visitors and guests that come to Crockett. But if you’re like me, you see that litter is a problem and creates the appearance that we really don’t care about Crockett.  The thing about litter is once it’s on the ground, it attracts more litter!

So what can we do about it?  First, do like me and every so often, take a litter walk.  Grab a recyclable plastic bag (or two) and take a walk around your neighborhood.  Pick up the trash you see laying around, and hopefully others will take notice and follow your example.

Second, choose not to litter.  Keep a litter bag or portable ash tray in your vehicle and when it is full, make sure that it gets put in its proper place.

And third, help me to spread the word.  If you would like to be part of a litter cleanup effort, please contact me at (936) 544-2225.

Let’s get serious about the litter problem.

Be a Crockett Litter Gitter and let’s clean up our city!
